Psychopath Test. Am I A Psychopath?

“Am I a psychopath?” is a question some people ask themselves. (psychopath definition) This psychopath test is used to assess the presence of psychopathy (signs of a psychopath) in individuals over the age of 18. However, the results of this psychopath test are NOT to be construed as a formal diagnosis. That can only be done by a qualified doctor or mental health professional. In a professional setting, the assessment of psychopathy contains two parts, a semi-structured interview and a review of the subject's file records and history.

Instructions: The psychopath test contains 20 questions used to rate a person's psychopathic or antisocial tendencies. Rate each personality trait on how it applies to you.

1. Glib and superficial (insincere, shallow)
2. Grandiose (exaggeratedly high) estimation of self
3. Need for stimulation (prone to boredom)
4. Pathological lying (l lie to make things go more smoothly)
5. Cunning and manipulative (I cheat and manipulate people)
6. Lack of remorse or guilt
7. Shallow affect (superficial emotional responsiveness. I rarely connect with others emotionally)
8. Callousness and lack of empathy
9. Parasitic lifestyle (I’m able to work, but instead live off others)
10. Poor behavioral controls (I have poor control over my behavior. I can be short-tempered, hot-headed, suddenly irritable, annoyed and/or impatient. )
11. Sexual promiscuity
12. Early behavior problems (Under age 12, I had serious behavior problems such as persistent lying, cheating, theft, fire-setting, cruelty to animals, truancy, drug-use, vandalism, violence, bullying, running away from home and/or preconscious sex.)
13. Lack of realistic long-term goals (I never gave much serious thought to the future.)
14. Impulsivity (I’m impulsive. I don’t think before I act.)
15. Irresponsibility (I have little to no sense of duty or loyalty to family, friends, etc. I may engage in behavior that puts others a risk. I manage my finances poorly. My work is careless or sloppy.)
16. Failure to accept responsibility for own actions (Make excuses or rationalize behavior. Blame others or circumstances.)
17. Many short-term marital relationships (A score of 2 applies to individuals who have had 3 or more of these relationships before the age of 30.)
18. Juvenile delinquency (have a history of serious antisocial behavior from the age of 17 and younger and have had formal contact with the criminal justice system.)
19. Revocation of conditional release (I violated conditions of my probation, parole, bail or restraining order. If applies, I escaped from an institution. A major violation or escape warrants a score of 2 – applies perfectly.
20. Criminal versatility (In adulthood, I’ve been charged with many different types of crimes. Six or more types of offenses results in a score of 2 - applies perfectly.)
