Breaking Bipolar Wins a Web Health Award - Thank-You
If you follow me here, or particularly elsewhere, you might have noticed there are some very vocal people who hate me. Mental illness is contentious, and some people take it to a personal level. That’s people for you.
Sometimes I talk about these people. I call them “the nasties.”
But today is not about them. Today is about celebrating all the wonderful, amazing people who support me, Breaking Bipolar and the mental health community in general.
Breaking Bipolar Wins a Web Health Award
This is the second time Breaking Bipolar has won a Web Health Award in the blogs category. Web Health Awards are given based on quality of content and use experience. These awards are designed to recognize credible, complete and clear content. (And things that don’t start with the letter ‘c’ too.)
Thank-You to the Readers
Writers don’t exist without readers and while I’m pretty sure HealthyPlace would support me even if I only had five readers (they’re like that) I’m lucky enough to have thousands of readers every month. That’s thousands of thank-yous to give out. I’m honored that you find my writing something you wish to come to again and again.
Thank-You for the Kind Words
There are many wonderful readers who send kind words to me here and in other avenues of my writing. These people have taken the time to tell me I’ve helped them, or they’ve learned something, they appreciate my writing or many other kind things.
(And know if you’re a reader and not a commenter, that’s perfectly OK too. Sometimes people think kind words. I can tell.)
While I understand this is self-aggrandizement, I’d like to share a few recent comments my ego has enjoyed this month:
- You are right (as always)
- It is so great, your strength, your persistence. Thank you for taking on the hard topics as you are addressing the naysayers (Scientology and the like). Kudos to you!
- Once again you are the candle that lights the darkness.
- Thank you for sharing this great information! . . . I can see this helping a lot of people who suffer from this not realizing what is going on.
- I know you are a strong woman, and I’m glad . . . I really appreciate this post as a valuable contribution to the discussion around how psychiatrists both help and harm patients, and the conflicting feelings of empowerment and disempowerment that we feel as we receive treatment and the unusual relationships between patients and clinicians . . . Thanks for your writing.
- Yes, yes and yes again! A really intelligent article - thank you.
No one should ever feel pressured to write these types of comments, but I want all of you to know, I appreciate your words and your support. When the keyboard feels cold, or the nasties come out in full force, your comments warm me, protect me and remind me why I do this.

More HealthyPlace Web Health Awards
Check out Angela Lackey’s Surviving ED blog and Angela McClanahan’s Life with Bob blog who also received awards in the blogs category. HealthyPlace won three additional awards for their radio show, psychological tests and overall web site. See the complete list of winners here.
My thanks also goes out to HealthyPlace and their staff. I believe these people do what they do not just for money, but to help people. They are genuine and supportive and I appreciate being able to use their platform to speak. Thank-you.

I am sorry to say, that I have never listening to Natasha's blog. So I just can't tell you, how it is. But from reading the feedback about it. It sounds great to me!! I will be looking into that right away
Hi Hannah, Angela, Anna,
thanks for your well-wishes. It's nice to hear about the positive impacts.
I love your blog honey!! We are not alone ... thanks for bringing us together!!
Congratulations! I often read your blog and find valuable insight and inspiration in your words. Keep up the good work!
Congrats Natasha!!...(it ate my first post)...so I'm keeping this one short. I'm so glad I found your blog, it has been a big help in helping to educate my family and friends on bipolar. :)
Thank-you. Of course, I appreciate your support.
To be clear, the readers didn't vote for me, it's a panels of doctors, nurses and other health-related professionals who make the determination.
I wanted to thank my readers because without them, there would be nothing to get an award for.
Congratulations Natasha! I'm so happy for you. I just wish I could take some credit for your win, but I had no idea there was anything to vote on ;) next te for sure!
Thank-you. Great to hear the positive feedback.
Thanks! *high 5* right back.
Congratulations, I love your blog and obviously so do a lot of other people.
Congrats! You deserve the award more than you know! *high 5*
