Standing Together for Self Harm and Mental Health Awareness

March 9, 2013 Christie Stewart

On March 1, which is widely known as "Self Injury Awareness Day", I put together a video collaboration with people across the globe to inspire awareness, hope, love, and recovery for mental illness and self-injury.

This video features music by singer/songwriter Chris Pureka, as well as photos and personal messages of inspiration by others who have faced the struggles of depression, self-injury, addiction and suicidal thoughts. We hope that with this video, you will know that you are not alone.

Standing Together for Self Harm & Mental Health Awareness

In part 2 of this video series, I sit down with the artist who provided the song "Cruel and Clumsy" for the project about using writing as a healthy coping mechanism, as well as what it's like to write songs that deal with such deep and painful subjects, like self-harm, depression and suicide.
