ED Recovery: A Letter to My Body

Hey everyone! I wanted to share with you all a couple of letters that I wrote to my body, just to show you the progression towards body acceptance. In my last post, I talked a bit about the long road to body acceptance. It certainly doesn't happen overnight. Patricia recently shared a letter to her body and I thought I would do the same. Twice. In almost every treatment center I've been in, I've had to write a letter to my body. The two I share in this video were written almost exactly one year apart.

Hey, have the same name as you. loved your letters. i am still on the level of the first letter but found both encouraging. Must not loose focus.

Jessica,
Thanks loads for sharing both letters - as well as your smiling face. I keep telling myself: body size doesn´t matter. I might be the opposite of you - trying to hide the lack of curves by just disappearing. Anyway, I´m still struggling to eat more - to not think of it as eating more to please others but of simply nourishing my body for health. I´m 60 years old and running out of time to keep my mind, bones, and muscle mass working in my favor. I don´t mean I´m close to my death bed - just running out of time for any meaningful body "building up". Your letters, as well as Patricia´s have been helpful and encouraging. Thanks for sharing.

Susan,
Thank you so much for sharing. Your way of thinking about eating -- to nourish your body, not to please others -- is exactly what you need to keep in mind! You have to cease to have emotional reactions to food (good or bad) and see food as neutral and fuel for a body that is awesome and lets you do cool things in the world. Easier said than done, to be sure. But you're right -- focus this time on building your body up instead of destroying it -- and those decades you have before you will be even more enjoyable!
