Eating Disorder Coping Skills - Mobile Edition!
Having a list (or shoebox) full of coping skills is awesome -- if it's nearby when an urge strikes. So what happens when you're driving home after work? Or hanging out at the mall killing time? Those coping skills you have on your shelf at home aren't going to do you any good -- which is why you have to have go-to coping skills for on-the-go, too.
Early on in my eating disorder recovery process, I learned that I always, always, always had to have coping skills with me. And not just a list of things to do -- tangible things I can pull out and have in my hands to help me through a rough patch.
Surely I am not the only thing to have thought of a solution for keeping coping skills with me wherever I am. Leave some comments about what you do to cope with urges when you're out and about. I'd love to hear your ideas.

Wow, Jess. You are so smart. This does make me wonder, though, do you even have a Taco Bell (see our previous conversation a/b cheese quesadilla)? As for other items, what a/b a Bible verse that is really speaking to you or a picture of something? Like it could be a picture of something you're looking forward to, a trip somewhere (I know you like to travel), or getting together with someone specific (i.e. Chanda and me) ;) Keep up the great work. You are awesome!
Jade,
A bible verse is a great idea -- I can't believe I haven't added one yet. I kept one with me the entire time I was in treatment the first time. And I love keeping pictures of "my" kids -- to remind myself of how I want to present in their lives. Not just physically, but mentally.
