Lemon balm (Latin name: Melissa officinalis) is a type of mint. Its leaves have traditionally been used as a herbal remedy, including for depression and anxiety.

Is lemon balm effective for depression?

There is no scientific evidence on whether lemon balm works for depression.

Are there any disadvantages?

None known.

Where do you get it?

Dried leaves are available at health food shops and can be made into a tea, or it can be bought in a ready-made tea form.

Recommendation

Given the lack of scientific evidence, lemon balm cannot currently be recommended for depression.
